I have a windows vista inspiron 1501 laptop and I lost my original reinstall cd. My friend has a reinstall cd from a windows xp. Would it be okay to use that? Or can I even use it?

I’m ready to get a laptop for college. My first choice is windows because I’m a gamer. However I heard a lot of complaints about windows vista. Many people told me not to get a vista. I just want to know how bad is it? What are some positives and negatives about it?

I am not that skilled at figuring out computers. I am hoping that someone with windows vista can give me some advice on downloading fonts to my silhouette.

I just got a brand new laptop with Vista 64 bit a few days ago. Somehow the theme changed to the classic windows view. When I try to change the theme back to vista, there’s only 2 choices: My Theme and Classic Theme.
I don’t know how this happened because it was suddenly set with these settings when I turned on the laptop.
If you do not know how to fix it, I could also use a link to somewhere I can download the vista theme back onto my computer.
Thanks!

The other night when I went to log-out/shut-down my computer, it went into a Windows automatic update (I’m running Vista) and then the computer shut off after the updates like it is supposed to. When I went to use it a few days later, the mouse and keyboard are not working, and hence, I can’t get into my computer. I have unplugged/replugged the mouse and keyboard, checked all connections, and rebooted the computer several times, and still nothing. Does anyone know what could be causing this, how to fix it, and does it have anything to do with the update?

I have a few files (bank account numbers, website passwords etc) hidden in the Windows Media Player program file. Is there a way I can place a password on this program file or possibly on individual folders inside the program file folder? I’m using Windows Vista.
