Microosft doesn’t advertise this, Microsoft will let you downgrade to XP without having to buy XP if you bought a laptop with preinstalled Vista. Better check into it.
The company I work for switched to Vista and Office 2007. After its been checked for compatibility issues, three weeks of trying to make it work with our printers and other software. We gave up on it and switched back, MSoffice and all.
It was a mess, but I’ve learned not to get Vista until the bugs are worked out and when that happens, Windows 7 will be here so why get Vista?
It might have worked fine for me, but I don’t need the hassle when XP works perfectly for me with all the latest software.

Yes it’s possible to do so but the problem is that if you bought from a big outfit like say PCWorld and you pay monthly for extended warranty, the warraty may be affected if you have a problem and want to fix it for free.
You may also not be able to exchange it within the specified time if you have a problem after changing the operating system.
Note that you can stil change back to Vista later (maybe when you are more comfortable with it) if you have recovery discs and your serial no.

Well, that’s because other companies are not able to support their softwares with vista.
It’s not Vista’s problem. It’s a great operating system.
