How do you install ubuntu linux on your PC WITHOUT gettig rid of Windows Vista or XP?
Okay, I would like to have linux and Windows Vista both running on one machine. I DON’T want to get rid of Windows Vista, so what do I do after I download linux. I would also like to do the same with XP too.
And please NO bad mouthing about windows or windows vista. I happen to like Microsoft and Windows Vista and I DON’T want to get rid of it.

just boot from the ubuntu boot disk and it will install on the same disk and will not erase XP.
The Ubuntu “live cd” will give you the option to install and it then creates a dual boot with Ubuntu and Windows.
The partitioning and the boot manager are all handled by the Ubuntu installer.
Just to be on the safe side I would make a backup of your Windows environment before performing the install.
In the meantime you can try-out Linux Ubuntu by booting off the Live CD. This will also determine whether you have the necassary drivers for Linux.
I currently run dual boots with Ubuntu and WindowsXP and WindowsXP and Windows Vista – the Linux dual boot was easier! I am pretty certain that it will work with Vista.
No bad mouthing – give Ubuntu (or other Linux) a try. I think it is the way to go although I am running XP Vista and a couple of Linux distributions.
First, buy NORTON PARTION MAGIC. (must have 2 hardisks at least). On the master hardisk, leave free space no more than 1/2 of the capasity. Move the files to the slave hardisk if needed. Then restart. Then, using the norton partion magic, follow the steps and partion your master hardisk into half capasity. Then reboot and install the OS. On the new OS, you will only have 1 hardisk. If you want both of them to be used for your new OS, back to the original OS and partion your slave hardisk. On the new OS, it will detect a new hardware. Just install it. done….
